Alexium Presents at Premier Chemical and Biological Defense Conference

Perth, WA and Greer, SC -November 17th, 2010- Alexium International Group Limited (Alexium) (ASX: AJX) (AX: AJX) is pleased to announce its Chief Technology Officer Dr. Robert Brookins has been invited to present at the 2010 Chemical and Biological Defense Science and Technology (CBD S&T) Conference in Orlando, Florida this week.
Hosted by the US Government’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the conference will showcase the latest developments of the Medical and Physical Science disciplines of chemical and biological defense.
Dr Brookins’ invited presentation, entitled Multifunctional Coatings for Protective Apparel, will showcase Alexium’s recent work on textile treatments offering advanced protection from chemical and biological hazards.
Dr Brookins said the invitation to present is testament to the significant progress Alexium is making with its Reactive Surface Treatment (RST) technology.
“The RST technology, which allows for the surface modification and attachment of nano particles to surfaces, means that apparel treated with this process not only provides protection against chemical and biological agents, but is water proof, flame resistant, insect repellent, antimicrobial and is warmer in winter and cooler in summer,” he said.
“This multifunctional capability fulfils many of the requirements of the Department of Defense and makes Alexium a serious candidate to deliver a new generation of battle dress uniforms.”
The CBD S&T Conference will be held at the Hilton Orlando in Orlando, Florida from November 15-19, 2010 and Dr Brookins will present on Wednesday, November 17 at 9.30am. A copy of Dr. Brookins presentation will be available on the Alexium website www.alexiuminternational.com.
