Perth, WA and Greer, SC -March 29th, 2010-  Alexium International Group Limited (ASX: AJX) is pleased to announce that it has formally entered into a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Air Force, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Airbase Technologies Division, Tyndall AFB, FL (“AFRL”) relating to its award winning Reactive Surface Treatment (“RST”) technology.

Funded principally by the US DoD and the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency, a dedicated team of US Department of Defence (DoD) scientists are working with Alexium on expanding the applications for the RST technology for military products. These applications include textile treatments for protection against pathogens and chemical/biological warfare agents as well as self-decontaminating coatings.

The principal objective of the CRADA is to leverage each others capabilities and to ensure the rapid transition of the RST technology into military products as well as a growing portfolio of broader commercial applications. Under the agreement, Alexium and AFRL will co-develop RST applications and grow the patent portfolio.

“We are delighted that the CRADA is now formally in place,” said Alexium Managing Director, Steve Ribich. “We now have the ability to share technical skills and resources of those US DoD scientists who invented the process and are working with the technology on a daily basis. This will accelerate the development of new products for the US DoD, in addition to those currently being marketed by Alexium for commercial civilian exploitation.
