• Alexium’s Nycolon™ Technology provides a novel flame retardant treatment for nylon/cotton fabric blends
• Nycolon™ treatment now proven durable to 50 wash cycles
• Developments on Nycolon™ continue to establish ultimate durability
• Production scale line trial of Nycolon™ planned for the near future.

Perth, WA, and Greer, South Carolina -October 2nd, 2013-  Alexium International Group Limited (Alexium) (ASX:AJX, AX:AJX, OTC QX:AXXIY) announced today that it has established a new benchmark for the launderability of Nycolon™, Alexium’s novel flame retardant treatment for nylon-cotton fabric blends. Recent developments have established that Nycolon is launderable for 50 wash cycles. This level of launderability marks a critical threshold for the commercialization of Nycolon™.

Demonstrating Nycolon’s durability for 50 wash cycles is an important product milestone. Over the past few months, Alexium Government Solutions (AGS, subsidiary of Alexium International Group Limited) has optimized the processing parameters for the Nycolon treatment. This work has produced some facile changes that have significantly improved the wash durability of Nycolon™. These improvements increases the commercial significance of Nycolon™-treated fabrics in military and commercials markets.

“At this point Alexium is realizing the potential of the Nycolon™ technology,” said Dr. Bob Brookins, Alexium’s Head of Research & Development. “While this level of launderability is a significant benchmark for Alexium, we are still making advances that will continue to expand the commercial significance of Nycolon™.

Building on this recent work, Alexium plans to conduct a production-scale line trial of the Nycolon™ in the next month.
