Susan Thomas Appointed as New Board Chair
Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, USMC (Ret.) Appointed Deputy Chairman
Perth, Australia and Greer, South Carolina- May 15th 2017- Alexium International Group Limited (“Alexium,” “the Company”) (ASX: AJX, NASDAQ Designation: AXXIY) has announced that Ms. Susan Thomas has been appointed by the Board of the Company as the new Chair, following upon the announcement in November 2017 that Gavin Rezos would step down from the role in May of this year. Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Company.
Ms. Thomas, who is now Chair Elect, will formally assume the Chair role at the upcoming EGM of the Company on 8th May.
Ms. Thomas (LLB B.Com. FAICD) has had a distinguished career as a technology entrepreneur, and in law and corporate finance. Ms Thomas has significant Board experience and currently serves on three ASX Listed company Boards as well as subsidiary boards for Westpac and Pexa Limited.
- Temple and Webster Limited (ASX: TPW) a Company in online retail in the consumer sector;
- Fitzroy River Holdings Limited (ASX: FZR) and Royalco Resources Limited (ASX: RCO) 2 Royalty Companies, of which FZR holds 47% of RCO;
- Advance Asset Management Limited, Asgard Capital Management Limited, BT Portfolio Services Limited and Westpac Financial Services Limited, which are Westpac subsidiary asset management boards;
- PEXA Limited, which has developed online conveyancing with the states, banks and other investors as major shareholders;
Ms. Thomas is Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for Pexa and TPW.
Ms. Thomas began her career as a corporate lawyer with Freehill, Hollingdale & Page in Sydney. During the 1990s Ms. Thomas established and grew FlexiPlan Australia, a successful investment administration platform sold later to MLC. Sourcing strategic partners, growing administered funds to $1.7billion, as well as overseeing over 140 staff, Ms. Thomas’ achievements saw her acknowledged as an industry leader in financial technology.
Ms. Thomas is also a Senior Executive Coach at Foresight Global Coaching, working with C-suite executives, and is also a member of the Law Advisory Council of the University of NSW.

General Cheney is the former Inspector General of the Marine Corps and Commanding General of Parris Island Marine Base. He is the former Deputy Executive Secretary to US Defense Secretary Dick Cheney under President George H.W. Bush and was also a member of Secretary of State John Kerry’s Foreign Affairs Policy Board. General Cheney is CEO of the Washington, DC-based policy group, American Security Project. He was appointed to the Company’s Board on 15 April, 2015, and is chairman of the Company’s remuneration committee.
